VZU targets WCAG 2.2 AA across every page. We publish this statement, the audit cadence, and the remediation queue. Version 1.0. Effective 27 July 2026.
What we commit to
WCAG 2.2 AA target
All vzu.ca pages and the 12 capability subdomains target WCAG 2.2 AA conformance. We do not claim full conformance today; we publish this statement, the remediation queue, and the audit cadence.
Keyboard navigable
Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard. Focus rings are visible (clay accent, 2px outline, 2px offset). Skip-to-content link is on every page. No keyboard traps.
Screen reader tested
Pages are tested quarterly with VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), NVDA (Windows), and TalkBack (Android). Major flows tested: hero → CTA → form submit; nav → sub-page → contact form. Issues found are filed in the remediation queue.
Color contrast
Body text on the default paper background measures 12.6:1 (ink #1A1815 on paper #F6F2EC). Body text on the dark sections measures 13.1:1 (paper #F6F2EC on ink #1A1815). All CTA text passes 4.5:1 minimum. The clay accent (#C4623F) on paper measures 4.8:1; on ink measures 6.3:1. Both pass.
Motion
Animations respect prefers-reduced-motion. The animation library (Lenis, GSAP, Motion) checks the media query and short-circuits when set. Users can disable animations system-wide; the site remains fully functional.
Forms
Every input has a visible label. Required fields are marked with both text and aria-required. Errors are announced via aria-live="polite" and linked to the offending field. Field validation is server-side authoritative; client-side is hint-only.
Multilingual readiness
Pages declare lang="en". When a non-English page is added, the lang attribute and the hreflang tags will be updated. The /ar/ and /hi/ locales (UAE and India operations) are scheduled for 2026 Q4.
Third-party content
Cloudflare, Vercel, and GitHub Pages status pages, embedded videos, and the AgentConf poster image are audited. We do not embed third-party widgets that we cannot audit. We do not use Google Tag Manager (we never want a tag manager in the trust boundary).
Known limitations
Editor autoplay videos
The bento grid includes autoplaying muted videos. We do not currently expose a per-tile pause control. Fix: add a pause button overlay by 2026 Q4.
PDF documents
Legacy PDF documents in the newsroom archive may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Fix: re-issue as tagged HTML.
Color-only state indicators
Some badge states (e.g., "Live" vs "Beta") use a color + text label. If a screen reader is set to ignore color-only signals, the text label is still announced. No fix needed.
